Every year, the Nigerian Library Association (NLA)’s National Conference/Annual General Meeting is held in July. With a unique blend of professionalism, fun, culture and learning, every July has become a festival of sort for librarians in the country.
For the NLA ’18, all roads are now cleared to Abeokuta, Ogun State. With the release of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) as the Conference venue by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo, every library and information professional in the country really needs to come see what the Gateway State has to offer.
Without a mince of words, Gateway 2018 is something you have to mark your calendar for from now. From my knowledge of the Ogun State people, the appellate “cradle of civilization” that they brand the city of Abeokuta with is something they always work to uphold in all endeavours.

What is OOPL?
The Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library is owned by the former president Olusegun Obasanjo. It offers a stunning environment that comprises a presidential Library, a 4-star Guest House Resort, cinema, museum, swimming pool, gymnasium, amusement park, worship centres, a Wild Life park and other tourists’ attractions.
The OOPL is presently one of Ogun State’s most spectacular location for any important event. The highest point at the OOPL Complex is called the ‘Rock of Inspiration.’ From this point, you can catch an awesome bird-eye view of the city of Abeokuta. The Library building itself was designed like an outstretched arm to welcome visitors. With its penthouse and fascinating environment, you’ll surely be proud to be a library and information professional while at OOPL.
